adventure starts at 6.00 a.m. Through fertile orange
groves you drive up to the White Mountains. At Omalos
plain you have the possibility to having breakfast. At
about 8.00 a.m. the bus drives you to the entry of the
gorge at "Xsiloskala" (1100 m) where you walk down
into Europe's longest gorge, wild and unspoilt. 5-6
hours walking time. At the end of the gorge you arrive
in Agia Roumeli at the Lybian sea. You have time for a
swim or just relax and taste local specialities in one
of many cozy taverns. In the afternoon you take the
ferry-boat to Sougia and your bus takes you back to
Chania. Practical walking shoes are essential. For
people with health problems the walk is not
recommended. |
